Brown County Native Woodland Project upcoming invasive plant awareness events

The mission of the Brown County Native Woodland Project (BCNWP) is to protect the forest of the Brown County Hills from the devastating effect of invasive plants through education, training and eradication of invasive plants. As a membership and volunteer group, the board of directors has identified the following events for 2023.

On Sept. 16, a second Weed Wrangle is scheduled for the Brown County School’s Eagle Park. The focus will be shrub invasives, such as autumn olive, privet and bush honeysuckle.

Workdays are planned for the Library Ravine and Brown County State Park. Dates will be announced prior to the events.

The always popular Nature Dazes will be on Sept. 9. Planning is under way to make this a fun and educational time for both families and individuals.

If you are interested in being a part of this important environmental work contact the Brown County Soil and Water (BCSW) office at 812-988-2211. New members are always welcome.
