| Juanita Mathis, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 12, 2023. She was born on October 8, 1928 in Bloomington, Indiana. Juanita enjoyed tending to her flowers in her yard, her daily journaling, and she was an avid baker and was well known for her snickerdoodle cookies. She was the first Brown County Fair Queen. She is survived by her sons, Russell E. (Beverly) Mathis, Darrell G. (Patsy) Mathis and Robert A. (Kurt Havely) Mathis; grandchildren, Rebecca J. Lloyd, Andrew R. Mathis, Joshua G. Mathis, Ashley N. Mathis, Danielle M. Wieland, and Anthony D. Mathis; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard D. and Mildred R. Percifield; husband, Harry R. Mathis; her son, Stanley B. Mathis and two siblings. Visitation was held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. She was laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
