Peggy Jane Bond Thompson passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023, with family by her side,
from liver failure and had been in ill health the last 4 years. She was born on November 1, 1951
to Patricia Austin Bond and Jack Bond in Franklin, Indiana. She was preceded in death by infant
son Bryce and her parents Jack and Patricia and grandson Brice. She is survived by her
husband(53 years) Dr. Michael Thompson of Bradenton Florida, and children Michael
Jr.(Megan) of Fishers, Indiana, Gregory(Jamie) of Greenfield, Indiana, Rebecca Haug(Aaron) of
Aledo, Texas, Brayton(Cat) of Spencer, Indiana along with 9 grandchildren. Her surviving
siblings are Susie Owens(Gary)Columbus, IN, Rebecca Bond, Nashville, IN, Cindy
Speas(Kevin) Rural Hall, NC, Dr. Jeff Bond(Sarah) Mitchell, IN
She had lived the last 4 years in Bradenton, Florida with her husband Mike. She was a member
of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bradenton. Mike and Peggy were married August 30, 1970
in the Nashville, Indiana Christian Church.
Peggy graduated from Brown County High School (Nashville, Indiana) in 1969, from Franklin
College (Franklin, Indiana) in 1973, and a Masters in Education from Indiana University.
While at Franklin College she was awarded the Laurels Trophy as the number one female
academic student and Graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was also a member of Delta Delta
Delta Sorority.
Peggy was an elementary teacher for over 40 years in Indiana at Brownstown Central, Osgood,
Southwood, and Brown County (Van Buren Elementary and Nashville Elementary). She did
serve 1 year as Director of the Whitley County Day Care Center in Columbia City, Indiana.
In Brown County she was an active member of the Nashville Christian Church, served on the
Brown County Fair Board, an active member of Psi Iota Xi, Nashville Town Christmas
decorations, and numerous community groups. She was also a past member of the Indiana
Standardbred Association and the United States Trotting Association. While living on their farm
in Brown County she and Mike raised and raced Standardbred race horses(trotters and pacers).
She was chosen as Miss Brown County in 1969.
Peggy loved to do photography, read, sew, quilt, and craft. She and Mike enjoyed going to
auctions and repurposing furniture and items. She loved all sports including Indiana University,
Purdue, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Rays and Lightening.
She loved the water at Anna Maria Island. She loved her swimming pool.
Most importantly Peggy loved her sisters and brother, her children, and her grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at a later date in Nashville, Indiana.
