New art donation at Brown County library
Come and take a look at the new painting on the stairwell at the Brown County Public Library!
A generous gift from Michael Fulton and Judith Stewart, “Early Morning” by Charles Dahlgreen is especially appropriate for our library collection. If you look closely at the background, you can see the courthouse, indicating that the artist was standing at the library’s current location when he set up his easel one misty morning.
Charles Dahlgreen (1864-1955) was a Chicago painter and printmaker who, like many of his peers, often visited Brown County to paint. He eventually became so fond of the natural beauty of the county that he requested his ashes be spread here after his death.
