Club news for the week of June 28

Rotary Club

We are pleased to welcome fellow Rotarians Joe and Nicole Otte as our speakers at the Rotary Club’s October 12th meeting at 7:45 a.m. at The Seasons Lodge in the Fireplace Lounge, 560 State Road 46 East.

They will discuss the service project that they are leading with the Rotary Clubs of Center Grove, Franklin, and Greenwood. The project is to assemble and pack 100,000 nutritious meals with a shelf life of three years that can be prepared using only boiling water and to ship those meals to feed refugees from the war in Ukraine, whether in country or in a country of refuge. Joe and Nicole are nearing their goal of raising $35,000 to purchase food for the project.

This service project is being done under the sponsorship of Pack Away Hunger, an Indianapolis-based charity that believes that in a world with resources enough to feed everyone, no one should go hungry. Pack Away Hunger has sponsored over 85,000 volunteers in nearly 600 projects that have distributed nearly twenty million meals to hungry people in the United States, Central America, and Eastern Europe.

Joe Otte is a Real Estate Broker with Carpenter Realtors in Franklin. He has extensive experience in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and applied science from teaching at Ivy Tech in Columbus, working in industry, and earning a BS in Technology and Engineering Education and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Indiana State. Nicole Otte is Director of Workforce Development for Endress+Hauser, a global instrumentation, services, and solutions provider for industrial process engineering. She earned a BS in Technology Education, an MA in Career and Technical Education form Ball State, and achieved candidacy for a PhD in Educational Leadership and Administration from Indiana State.

Members of the community, especially those interested in exploring opportunities to participate in projects and to be of service to our community, are invited to attend.
