The Brown County Community Foundation has announced that seven high school seniors have been selected as finalists for the 2024 Brown County Lilly Endowment Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Livie Austin, Lexie Austin, Julia Burt, Marqi Satter, Lynsey Summers, Cayden Varno and Eli Webb.

The Brown County’s finalists were selected from among 14 applications submitted by students who live in Brown County and attend an accredited public high school. Applications for the 2024 scholarship were blindly reviewed and independently scored by members of a scholarship committee.

Finalists completed an impromptu essay and interview in October, those were scored, and a Lilly Scholar will be selected. The finalists’ rankings, along with the committee’s recommendations for scholarship nominees, will be submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. for final review of scholarship recipients for Brown County. The 2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars for Brown County will be named in December. Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are awarded four-year, full-tuition scholarships to pursue baccalaureate degrees at colleges or universities in Indiana. The scholarship also includes up to $900 annually for required textbooks and equipment.

Since the Lilly Endowment Scholarship Program’s inception in 1998, over $486 million in scholarship tuition has been provided. The Lilly Scholarship program is administered by Independent Colleges of Indiana and community foundations in each of Indiana’s 92 counties.
