Phillip Allen Bartley, 88, of Nashville, IN passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. He was born September 19, 1935 in Brown County, IN to the late Ivan and Rose (Owens) Bartley.

Phillip was a lifelong resident of Brown County. He married his wife Shirley Hobbs Bartley on March 6, 1954 in Bloomington, IN. They were happily married just a few days shy of 70 years.

Phillip was a member of the Nashville Christian Church and the Nashville Masonic Lodge. He worked for many years for Fleetwood Brothers Excavating and Rariden Enterprises. He also built many of the lakes and ponds in Brown County and surrounding areas.

Phillip loved to hunt, fish, and hunt for mushrooms. He had a very large garden that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Phillip is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Hobbs) Bartley; his daughter, Lisa Osborne and her husband Brad; grandson, Jason Bartley (Lindsey Huesman); granddaughter, Stacey Bartley Thomas and her husband Jessie; great-grandsons, Caleb Bartley (Jordan Spencer), Colton, and Cooper; great granddaughters, Carleen and Kirsten; a great-great grandson, Gunnar; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bartley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Bartley; a sister, Ruby Burch; and a brother, James Robert Bartley.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Bruce Bond. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
