NASHVILLE, IN

Wanda Marie Crutchett, 92, of Nashville, IN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Wanda and her husband, Richard “Dick”, and kids moved from Oswego, IL to Brown County in 1975 to a house on top of a hill. That “damn hill” provided many adventures and memories. While reluctant to move to southern IN, Wanda grew to love the house on the hill and Brown County. Wanda worked passionately as a nurse for many years, retiring from Bloomington Hospital at the age of 73. She also worked Saturday mornings at Dr. Tim Alward’s office. Caregiving was the fabric of her being. She enjoyed a good glass of wine, macaroni and cheese, ice cream, walking, and going to her annual nursing school class reunion. She also loved to travel – by car, motorhome, or plane – she enjoyed a good adventure. Wanda not only cared for humans, but she had many dogs over the years, some only Wanda could love.

She is preceded in death by husband, Richard H. Crutchett; Arthur Fletcher (father): Ruth Olmstead Fletcher (mother); June Clerkins Propernick (sister); Charles Clerkins (brother); Claude (Bud) Fletcher (brother); and Donald Fletcher (brother). She leaves behind her family who will miss her dearly – Children: Jeanine Crutchett Lehnert of Oswego, IL; Steven Crutchett (Jennifer) of Nashville, IN; Gail Crutchett Baer (Andrew) of Muscle Shoals, AL; and Brian Crutchett of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren, Christopher Lehnert (Heather) of Greenville, TN; Lacey Roberts of Nashville, IN; Elle Ragan (Josh) of Summertown, TN; and six great-grandchildren. Michael McGinley was a very special friend and her companion for the last 25 years; he and his daughters, Kathryn Richardson and Tracy Johnson are left to miss her as well.

A private graveside service in Aurora, IL will be held at a later date. In Wanda’s memory, please consider making a donation to the Brown County Humane Society (bchumane.org) or St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).
