NASHVILLE – A 61-year-old Bloomington woman, Andrea Hartwell has been charged with two level 6 felonies for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a legend drug. She has also been charged with a class A misdemeanor for possession of a schedule II controlled substance, a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and a class C misdemeanor for possession of paraphernalia.

On March 17, Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Bales and Indiana State Trooper Matt Fleener were performing a routine arrest on Donald Elifritz who had an active warrant for his arrest. According to the report he was also charged with a felony and two misdemeanors for drug related charges.

According to the report, while Bales was arresting Elifritz he was informed by Fleener that Hartwell allegedly also had a warrant for her arrest. Nashville Police Patrolman Heath Young placed her under arrest. While she was detained in Young’s patrol vehicle, Young assisted Bales in searching Elifritz’s vehicle. According to the report, Bales located a bag at Hartwell’s feet in the vehicle. According to the report, the bag included identifying objects that linked to Hartwell including two state identifications, various unlabeled pill bottles, a plastic tube containing a marijuana ‘one-hitter’, and a plastic container with suspected ground marijuana. According to the report Bales allegedly found methamphetamine in a small plastic bag, marijuana in a plastic bag, white oblong pills and an assortment of additional loose pills contained in the various pill bottles. Fleener spoke with Hartwell and she informed him that she did not wish to speak with law enforcement.

Upon being transported to the Brown County Jail, Hartwell was searched by Jail Officer Amanda Sisson. Sisson allegedly located a plastic container with suspected ground marijuana and a plastic tube containing another marijuana ‘one-hitter’ in Hartwell’s pants pockets.

Columbus man charged with drug-related counts

NASHVILLE – A 69-year-old Columbus man, Donald Elifritz has been charged with a level 5 felony for possession of between five and 10 grams of methamphetamine, a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana with a prior conviction and a class C misdemeanor for possession of paraphernalia.

On March 17, Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Bales and Indiana State Master Trooper Matt Fleener received information that a vehicle registered to Elifritz was seen driving through Nashville and that Elifritz allegedly had a warrant for his arrest. According to the report, Bales located Elifritz and saw him in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and performed a routine traffic stop. Nashville Police Patrolman Heath Young also arrived on scene to assist Bales.

Bales asked Elifritz to step out of the vehicle and informed him of the active warrant. According to the report, Bales handcuffed Elifritz and searched him and located a clear glass methamphetamine pipe with burn marks and residue wrapped in a gray rag. He also allegedly located a plastic container containing suspected marijuana and what is known as a marijuana ‘one-hitter’, as well as a bag containing suspected methamphetamine powder and a bundle of plastic bags wrapped together with a rubber band. According to the report, Bales later unwrapped the plastic bags to find two separate bags allegedly containing a clear crystalline chunk of suspected methamphetamine in each, a bag of loose crystalline powder and a bag of crystalline residue.

According to the report, Elifritz allegedly confirmed that the items found were methamphetamine, marijuana and a pipe used for ingesting methamphetamine. Bales asked Elifritz if there was anything illegal located in the vehicle and Elifritz allegedly confirmed that there was a bag in the foot compartment of the driver’s seat containing marijuana. According to the report, Bales searched the vehicle where he located the bag.

Inside of the bag, Bales allegedly found a digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue, a metal pipe used for marijuana, a marijuana grinder with residue inside, rolling papers and three sandwich bags each containing suspected marijuana. According to the report Bales also located multiple postal cards with Elifritz’s name and address on them.

According to the report Fleener informed Bales that the front seat passenger Andrea Hartwell allegedly also had a warrant and she was placed under arrest by Young.

Driver hurt after vehicle strikes ditch off 135

VAN BUREN TWP. – On March 17, Sheriff’s Deputy Oliver Hitz responded to a crash on State Road 135 N.

When Hitz arrived at the scene, he saw driver Wahkan Pace sitting in the driver’s seat with his head leaned against the driver’s side window. Pace was complaining of pain.

According to the report, Pace allegedly steered left of the center line and over-corrected resulting in him sliding sideways towards the west side of the road. Pace’s vehicle allegedly slid into a ditch where it came to a halt.

According to the report, Hitz asked Pace if he was OK and Pace said that he was not. Hitz said he did not see any blood or visible injuries, but Pace was complaining of pain in his head. Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and transported Pace to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Pace’s vehicle was towed.

Motorcyclist airflifted after crash on Helmsburg

JACKSON TWP.- On March 12, Lieutenant Colton Magner was dispatched for a crash with injuries on Helmsburg Road.

According to the report, a Jacob Shepherd 31-year-old man from Helmsburg was laying in the road unresponsive with serious injuries. Steven Boebinger, a nearby resident was allegedly holding Shepherd’s head when Magner arrived on scene.

The other driver, Anthony Undis a 31-year-old man from Nashville was allegedly visibly shaken by the crash but had not exited his vehicle.

According to the report, Undis said he was turning into a driveway when he heard a loud noise and felt the back of his truck spin. Steven Boebinger allegedly heard the accident and saw Shepherd bounce off of Undis’ truck. According to the report, he instructed his friend to call 911 and he ran down to help. Shepherd allegedly was unconscious and was airlifted by Lifeline to Methodist Hospital.
