Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales made an appearance in Brown County recently.

He was a speaker at the Southern District Clerks’ Conference in Brown County. Before that, he spoke at the Northern District and both conferences are a chance for county clerks to be among colleagues and collaboratively to share best practices and learn more information on important topics including election preparation and security, post-election audits and local election improvement grants.

Morales provided an update on the work being done from the Secretary of State’s Office, local election improvement grants awarded to more than 60 Indiana counties, and the 2024 Legislative Session.

Indiana’s Primary Election is less than two months away and county clerks are preparing for a massive turnout.

“Our county clerks remain consistent partners toward making elections statewide safe and secure,” Morales said. “Since day one, I’ve been building relationships with county clerks and election administrators, getting to know each one and the needs for their communities. I’m always reminding county clerks that we are a team, and it takes a team to get the job done right.”

Since the start of the year, Morales has hand-delivered election improvement grants to more than 60 counties statewide. Many counties will have election improvements in place for the upcoming Primary Election.
