Lois Marie (Porter) Sanders, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of Brown County.

She was born October 23, 1936, in Brown County, to the late Ray and Mary (Derringer) Porter.

Lois was a 1954 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to work for over 25 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, retiring in 1999. Lois was a member of The Pentecostals Church in Nashville and a former 40-year member of First Apostolic Church in Morgantown. She enjoyed reading her Bible, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, helping around the family farm and cooking &baking for her family.

Lois was preceded in death on January 19, 2022 by her loving husband of 66 years, Leslie “Marlowe” Sanders, whom she married on December 3, 1955 at the Sprunica Church in Brown County. Lois was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin Sanders; daughter-in-law, Teresa Sanders; great grandsons, Dylan Sanders &Tyler Wilkinson; and siblings, Thelma Arvin, Richard, William &James Porter.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Debra) Sanders, Roy (Sherri) Sanders and Terry (Lena) Sanders, all of Brown County; daughter in law, Pam Sanders of Indianapolis; sister, Audrey Beasley of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brian, Elizabeth, Steve, Nate (Meghan), Jennifer, and Justin (Taylor), great grandchildren, Arron, Katie, Scarlett, Rowen, Kenzie, Gabe, Mason, David, Dillon, Jason, Kristin, Julianne, Braxton, Brooklynn, Jordan, Jackson, Jaylon and Ava; and great-great grandchildren, Elijah and Wrenly.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. conducted by Bro. Raymond Dupree at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Burial will be at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom.
