Accident on State Road 46; Driver injured

WASHINGTON TWP. – On June 30, Sheriff’s Deputy Zaccary Sheppard responded to a motor vehicle accident between a gray 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and a silver 2007 Mini Cooper on State Road 46 at the Salt Creek Road intersection. According to the report, the driver of the Mini Cooper Chisato Daugherty had been driving on State Road 46 behind a motorcycle when the motorcycle went around a turning vehicle.

Daugherty allegedly began to slow her vehicle as Kegan Todt in the Chevrolet Silverado crossed the road in front of her from Salt Creek Road.

According to the report, Daugherty struck Todt’s vehicle on the passenger side resulting in the truck flipping. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and the vehicles deployed their airbags.

According to the report, Todt was uninjured while Daugherty complained of chest and back pain and had blood on her forehead. She was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Nashville woman charged for intimidation

NASHVILLE – A 20-year-old Nashville woman Abigail Neibert has been charged with a level 6 felony for intimidation.

One June 18, Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Gibson spoke with Kendall Budde about messages she received from Neibert. According to the report, Neibert sent threatening messages to Budde because she had spoken with Neibert’s boyfriend.

Budde allegedly blocked Neibert after receiving the confrontational messages accusing Budde of having sexual relations with her boyfriend. According to the report, Budde unblocked Neibert and received more messages threatening Budde’s life.

Hartsville man charged with five misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated

VAN BUREN TWP. – A 36-year-old Hartsville man Jayson Smiley has been charged with two class A misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person and operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more; two class C misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with an ACE of .08 or more; and a class B misdemeanor for leaving the scene of an accident.

On June 24, Sheriff’s Deputies Kyle Minor and Zaccary Sheppard responded to a motor vehicle accident on Christiansburg Road. According to the report, on scene they noticed the top half of a utility pole snapped off with low hanging wires. There was a black Saturn passenger that had appeared to run off the road before striking the pole. According to the report, the vehicle also went into the cemetery, striking a headstone.

Southern Brown Fire Department Volunteer Jacob Ford allegedly said that Smiley asked him to help pull him out of the vehicle. According to the report, Ford questioned him and asked if he had valid insurance and identification. Smiley allegedly grabbed cigarettes and walked away toward the woods.

According to the report, Sheppard located mail in the vehicle that belonged to Smiley. Conservation officer Mike Southerland arrived on the scene. Southerland allegedly located Smiley on Hamilton Creek near the bridge.

According to the report, Minor and Southerland handcuffed Smiley and walked him out of the creek bed. According to the report, Smiley smelled like alcohol, but denied that he was under the influence. Smiley allegedly admitted to drinking earlier in the morning.

He allegedly took several tests on the scene including a preliminary breath test with a result of .151 and the walk and turn test. According to the report he was also asked to take a certified test with a result of .151 as well.
