Where’s There: Somewhere far, far away

Hiya Brown County! It’s your rambunctious rover exploring a new location for the week.

This one is a little different than the most recent ones, so bear with me folks. Outside of Brown County and about three-and-a-half hours north near the Michigan border sits one of Indiana’s three national parks. Its scenery consists of woods, lakeside beaches and sand — lots and lots of sand, I think I brought half the beach home with me.

I also almost brought home a blue and yellow six-lined racerunner lizard — note how I said ‘almost’, it’s prohibited to take things from national parks. Also, this specific lizard can run up to 18 miles per hour and I can barely run 2, so I was at a natural disadvantage.

I’ll be picking sand out of my teeth for days, not to mention my water bottle, clothes and phone. How does it manage to get everywhere? And is my charging port supposed to make that crunching sound?

Hiking mounds of sand— hint, hint and looking out at the open Indiana skyline is enough to make someone stop to appreciate how beautiful this state really is. I might be biased, but nothing still beats the nature of our Brown County woods.

Think you know where I am? Send us an email at [email protected] or stop by our office with your guess in-person. When there is more than one guess, a person is chosen at random to win their very own copy of 175 Years of Brown County.

Everyone congratulate this week’s winner Crystal Campbell who correctly guessed I was at Naughty Dog Books. Thanks for playing along, Crystal! Feel free to stop by our office during office hours (M-F, 9-4 — please note, the office will be closed on Monday for Labor Day) to grab your personal copy of 175 Years of Brown County and get a photo taken with me!

We are out and about a lot, so you might want to call ahead (988-2221) to make sure I’m there.
