Police: Teen late for work causes head-on collision

HAMBLEN TWP. — Police said a Nineveh teen who lost control of his vehicle and caused a head-on collision was speeding because he was late for work.Ryan R. Slutz, 16, was driving south on Nineveh Road near Beech Tree Road when he lost control of his 1997 Lincoln Town Car in a curve at around 10:45 a.m. June 30.

Slutz’s vehicle went left of center where it struck a 2003 Ram truck driven by Matthew J. Horgan, 54, of Greenwood, head-on, an accident report said.

A witness stopped to assist and reported that Slutz had passed her in a no-passing zone right before the accident.

Slutz and Horgan were taken to a hospital for bruises to their chest areas. They were both wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were towed.
