Visitor stopped for drunken driving

A South Carolina man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after being pulled over on State Road 46 on Feb. 4.

Nashville Police Officer Matthew Hatchett stopped the Range Rover driven by William P. Crawford, 54, at around 11:20 p.m. Hatchett reported smelling alcohol on Crawford, that his manual dexterity was poor and his balance was unsteady.

He refused a breath test and the results of a chemical test are pending, the affidavit states.

He was charged Feb. 6 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
