Woman arrested on drug charges in DCS parking lot

A local woman is facing drug possession and disorderly conduct charges after she was arrested in the parking lot of the Department of Child Services.

DCS staff had called police on Oct. 19 because Tina Cramer, 38, of Greasy Creek Road, was acting strangely and was possibly under the influence, according to a report by Nashville Police Officer Keith Lawson.

Lawson said Cramer was having trouble putting a winter hat on her head. When the officer explained why he was there, Cramer “was immediately defensive and verbally abusive” and said there was no way she was intoxicated because she hadn’t had a drink in more than two years. He told her that “intoxicated” could mean more than just alcohol.

DCS workers asked Cramer to take an oral drug screen and she complied, but was “belligerent to the workers the entire time,” Lawson wrote.

The officer asked if there was someone who could pick her up. Cramer got in touch with her daughter, and an officer agreed to go pick up the daughter so she could drive her mother home.

After that call, Cramer lit a cigarette after the officer told her several times not to, saying, “I am 38 (expletive) years old and you are not going to tell me I can’t smoke.” Lawson attempted to cuff her, but she resisted and continued to swear, the police report said. Once she was cuffed, she started to cry and apologize, the report said.

She was taken to the jail. Jail Captain Tony Sciscoe noticed Cramer attempting to conceal something in her hand: four methadone pills. Another pill was found in her pocket, the report said.

Cramer was charged Oct. 24 with possession of a controlled substance, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.
