One dead, two injured in crash on 46 West UPDATED 3:53 p.m. Friday

One person has died and two others were injured after a two-vehicle crash on State Road 46 West Thursday morning.

Stephan S. Woods, 52, of Bloomington, died at the scene of multiple blunt-force injuries, said Brown County Coroner Earl Piper. His wife, who was in the passenger seat next to him, also was injured and taken to a hospital by ambulance, Piper said.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to the hospital as well.

The crash happened at about 8 a.m. just east of Summers Place Trail in Belmont.

Sheriff Scott Southerland said a Subaru Forester and Chevrolet Cruze were involved.

Indiana State Police were called to the scene to do accident reconstruction and 3D imaging, Southerland said. Lt. Mike Moore will be completing a report about the crash.

The highway was closed for more than four hours.
