Injuries reported in weekend crash

LAKE LEMON — Two people were injured after two cars collided on North Shore Drive July 28.

The crash happened in the 6900 block just after noon, according to a report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell.

Alexandria Kakavecos, 21, of Fruitdale, told police she was driving west when she came around a corner at about 40 to 45 mph. She said that a vehicle driven by Sean Bird, 45, of Indianapolis, was on her side of the road.

Bird said Kakavecos’ vehicle was on his side of the road in the corner, according to the report. He told police he was having a conversation with his son about how a 30 mph speed limit in that area saves lives when he came around the curve.

Kakavecos did not seek immediate medical attention. She later went to a hospital by personal vehicle and was treated for a contusion on her left arm.

Bird had three passengers with him. A 16-year-old passenger was taken to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital by ambulance to get stitches on his face and to treat a possible concussion, the report said.

None of the other passengers in Bird’s vehicle needed medical attention, according to Bird’s wife, who later spoke to Stargell.

All people involved were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles were towed.
