Police respond for overdose, person transported

Police and EMS responded to a home on Georgetown Road Wednesday night for a report of an overdose.

Police found a 55-year-old man lying on the bathroom floor, unconscious, at around 8 p.m., according to a report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy William Pool.

The deputies administered three doses of Narcan to the man before he became “slightly coherent,” the report said. When EMS and firefighters arrived, another dose of Narcan was administered and the man was able to answer some questions, the report said. Narcan, also known as naloxone, reverses the effects of opioid drugs.

The man told EMS he had not taken anything.

The man’s son told police that the family was going to take him to rehab in Indianapolis that day, according to the report. He was taken to a hospital by EMS.

Pool reported that he did a “protective sweep” of the home and did not find anything illegal.
