Raymond A. McGlothlin, 91, of Nashville, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at Cumberland Pointe in West Lafayette.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926 in Lafayette, to the late Harry McGlothlin and Mary Arlene (Strubbe) McGlothlin.
Raymond married Waltraut E. Baumgart on Nov. 26, 1959; she preceded him in death in 2002. He later married Saramae Rogers in October 2005; she preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2014.
He was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary before attending Purdue University to obtain his master’s degree in education. Raymond taught Spanish and German at Lafayette Jefferson High School for 34 years before retiring in 1990.
Raymond was a past president of St. Vincent de Paul Society and an active volunteer until 2013. He was also a former president of Lafayette Teachers Retirement Association and an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Martin J. McGlothlin of Lafayette, Angela M. McGlothlin (husband, Mark Flexter) of Crawfordsville, Christine A. McGlothlin (spouse, Patricia Beason) of West Lafayette, and Barbara E. Kiefer (husband, Thomas A. Kiefer) of Fishers; and one grandson, Ethan A. Kiefer.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; siblings, Harry McGlothlin Jr., Elizabeth Pearson, Byron McGlothlin, Diane Brost and Gary McGlothlin.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th St. in Lafayette, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the service in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Lafayette.
