A 29-year-old Brown County man pleaded guilty last month to two felonies for possessing child pornography.

Patrick J. Becraft, of State Road 46 West, was arrested in May 2018 on 10 counts of child pornography and 10 counts of child exploitation.

Becraft was ultimately charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. All were Level 5 felonies but one, which was a Level 6.

On Sept. 17, Becraft appeared in court where he pleaded guilty to two of those Level 5 felonies, according to online court records.

The remaining eight counts were dismissed.

The charges stemmed from an Indiana State Police investigation that began earlier in 2018.

The Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Cyber Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched his home. Police were notified by Dropbox Inc. in January 2018 that child pornography files had been uploaded to the company’s web storage and sharing service. The tip included the person’s email address, screen name and electronic service provider user ID.

Police searched a laptop found in the home and reported finding 10 video files showing children engaging in sexual activities with grown men.

On the first count, Becraft was sentenced to serve three years in jail with one year executed. On the second charge he was sentenced to serve three years in jail, but that was suspended. Both sentences are consecutive and he received credit for two actual days served.

Becraft was also put on probation for five years, which will include standard probation conditions along with special conditions like one year of house arrest and GPS monitoring and sex offender treatment. He was sentenced to pay $385 in fines and total court costs.

The same day of his guilty plea and sentence hearing, Becraft was booked into the Brown County jail to serve his sentence.
