Fitness studio to host several classes, events

Simply Fitness, 47 E. Main St., will host a variety of fitness sessions and special workshops through the winter.

  • Yoga and Acupuncture for Raynaud’s, Jan. 30 — Erica Weddle of Simply Fitness and Leah Craig of Roots of Healing Acupuncture will provide an evening of gentle yoga and acupuncture, $25 to $45, Simply Fitness studio.
  • Wellness Retreat at Story Inn, April 2-5 — Simply Fitness and DNK Presents host a weekend of yoga, dining, hiking, wine tasting and relaxation at the Story Inn, 6404 State Road 135 South, $550 to $750, includes all classes, one bodywork session of choice, food, beverages and the option to add overnight accommodations.
  • Slow Flow Yoga, Mondays, 6 to 7 p.m. — Simply Fitness studio, $13.
  • Yin Yoga, Wednesdays, 6 to 7 p.m. — Tap into the meridian lines, targeting connective tissues, the bones, muscles and ligaments, Simply Fitness studio, $13.
  • Restorative Yoga, Wednesdays, 7 to 8 p.m. — Use props to support the body and allow gentle relaxation, Simply Fitness studio, $13.

Hours extended at Brown County YMCA

The Brown County Community YMCA has extended its hours, effective starting Jan. 13, for the fitness center, gym, multipurpose room and locker rooms.

  • Mondays: 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Fridays: 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sundays: Noon to 9 p.m.

Kyokushin karate training offered

Sensei David Michaelis is offering training in traditional kyokushin karate.

Classes are for students 16 and older twice a week, at 6 p.m. Thursdays and 4 p.m. Sundays.

Michaelis has trained and taught kyokushin karate for more than 35 years. Kyokushin, Japanese for “the society of the ultimate truth,” is a style of stand-up, full-contact karate. It is intended to foster humility, perseverance and nonviolence and to provide a foundation for improving physical and mental discipline.
