St. Vincent de Paul offers curb-side service

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and Warehouse will continue to operate at regular hours, but will take precautions to protect families and volunteers from COVID-19.

The pantry, located at 2901 Long Lake Road, will continue to operate on Monday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

As a precaution for safety of families and volunteers, the pantry will provide curb-side service by bringing food to vehicles, according to Shirley Boardman.

Food and toiletries are still available. Clothing, furniture and household goods are available on an emergency basis as St. Vincent de Paul tries to limit the number of people inside the building.

St. Vincent de Paul received donations from seven local churches, Hoosier Hills Food Bank, Midwest Food and Kroger along with grants from Walmart and Sam’s Club. Vegetables, bread, fruit and meats are available.

About 10-percent of the county’s population is currently served by the pantry and warehouse.

Do you know someone who needs food, but may be home-bound or do not have transportation?

If so, proxy forms are available from the pantry to get permission to pick up and deliver food for a neighbor or someone in need. Call 812-988-8821 for more information.
