COVID BRIEF: Vaccine on its way in November, December

Coronavirus

The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines is expected by late November and a second shipment by the middle of December, state health commissioner Dr. Kristina Box reported in the state’s weekly COVID-19 press conference on Oct. 28.

A two-dose Pfizer vaccine is currently in development and is the first the state expects to receive. The state is looking at possible storage sites, since vaccines must be stored at a temperature of -70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The December vaccine is the Moderna vaccine.

This timeline is subject to change, and it will take months before a vaccine is available to everyone, Dr. Box said.
