Letter: Thanks to all who aided humane society at walk

To the editor:

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Brown County Humane Society held their 13th annual Chocolate Walk. We wore masks and waved at friends from a distance often in a little drizzling rain. Yet, over 1,000 faithful walkers visited Nashville to gather their chocolate treats all in continuing support of our shelter pets.

The Chocolate Walk Committee gives a resounding thank-you to our 31 businesses that gave generously of their time, energy and creativity to benefit the homeless animals of Brown County. We are pleased to announce the winners of the People’s Choice Awards with our hearty congratulations:

Taste: Sweetea’s Tea Shop

Creativity: Sweetea’s Tea Shop

Presentation: It’s a tie! Sweetea’s Tea Shop and Nashville Spice Co.

We would also like to thank the following for their sponsorship of this important fundraiser:

A&R Storage, Bean Blossom Animal Clinic, Brown County Inn, Curry Auto Center, Friends O’Mine Campground and Cabins, Hills O’Brown Vacation Rentals, J.B. Goods, Jones Law Office, Nashville Spice Company, Naughty Dog Books, New Leaf, Re-Max Team Brown County Property Management, A Stone’s Throw Home Stay, and media sponsor WKKG 101.5.

A sincere thank-you also goes to our over 60 volunteers for their tireless commitment to our shelter. Special mention goes to Reva and Nancy for providing the wonderful music on the courthouse lawn, to the Nashville train for giving our chocolate walkers a very welcome respite, and to Cheryl and Ron Ferguson for once again supplying hot chocolate for our intrepid volunteers.

Lastly, we thank this wonderful community that pitched in to help with this event despite the challenges we faced. We are forever grateful for your support.

Next year’s Chocolate Walk will be on Nov. 13, 2021. Mark your calendars and come share this great event!
