Injuries reported in holiday weekend crashes

Three people were injured in crashes in Brown County this holiday weekend.

The first was Friday, Sept. 1 on Clay Lick Road. Katherine J. Emberton, 28, of Brown County, was southbound when she came through the curve in the 1100 block of Clay Lick Road and lost traction, an accident report by Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld stated.

Emberton was unable to regain control on the wet road. Her vehicle was on its roof when police and emergency personnel arrived.

Emberton was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital for general pain, according to the accident report.

Her vehicle was towed. She was wearing a seat belt.

The next day at around 2 p.m., two people from Westfield were taken to CRH by ambulance from State Road 135 South after their motorcycle went off the road and crashed.

Courtney A. Jones, 43, was driving Christina Jones, 43, north on 135 South near Horseman’s Camp Road when the motorcycle crested the top of a hill and went off the road, an accident report by Schonfeld stated.

A witness reported that the motorcycle took the curve too sharp. Courtney Jones was unable to regain control and went into a ravine on the east side of the road, the deputy’s report said.

The crash threw both Courtney and Christina off the bike, the report states.

Courtney had a head injury with minor bleeding and Christina had a complaint of head pain. Neither was wearing a helmet, according to the accident report.

A passerby towed the motorcycle to a friend’s house.
