Coach’s comments: The Lady Eagles fell just short of a win in a thrilling triple-overtime season opener against Bloomfield. Brown County jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and and still held the advantage at the half with a 22-to-14 lead. Bloomfield trimmed the lead to 4 heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Eagles saw their lead slowly dwindle as Bloomfield looked to be taking control as the fourth quarter was winding down. With just over 3 seconds left on the clock, Brown County was able to get a long, full-court in-bounds pass into the hand of junior guard Dasia Wilkerson, who banked in a 30-footer as time expired to send the game into overtime. Bloomfield jumped out to the early lead in the first OT and looked again to have things in hand until Aubrey Hollander found Allison Stogsdill on the wing for a 3 with just seconds remaining to once again keep the Lady Eagles alive and force a second OT. The second OT saw a lot of back-and-forth action and a last-second chance for the win slipped out of the hands of the Lady Eagles as the game headed to yet another OT period. The Lady Eagles’ good fortunes finally ran out in the third and final overtime as they missed some key shots, suffered several foul-outs, and Bloomfield knocked down just enough key free-throws to seal the victory. The Lady Eagles will look to bounce back next week as they host the Lady Cougars of Bloomington North.
