Donald E. Kelp

Donald E. Kelp, 88, of Nashville, Indiana, died peacefully in Monroe Hospital, Bloomington, Sunday, May 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born in northern Indiana on March 30, 1930 to the late Max and Iva (Dowell) Kelp. Don married Thelma Mae Seitz on June 6, 1954 in Morgantown.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He came back to Indiana after the war and worked at Cummins Engine until his retirement in 1987.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, gas engines, having yard sales and visiting with his neighbors. Don was a founding member of BC Antique Tractors.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Thelma; three children, Terry (Ginny) Kelp, Donna (Luis Lopez) Lutes and Gary Kelp; three sisters, Maxine (Bob) Hedrick, Mary (Walter) Smale, Judy (Ken) Shroeder; three brothers, Jim (Bev) Kelp, Jerry (Annie) Kelp, and John (Judy) Kelp; nine grandchildren, Kimberli (Paul) Carter, Cody Lutes, Ethan Lutes, Anna Lutes, Cameron Kelp, Libby Kelp, John Cunningham, Hailey Combest and Eddie Hardin; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Kelp and Allen Kelp.

Visitation for Don will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17 in Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

Entombment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Nashville.
