Brown County Habitat group chooses volunteer of the year

Brown County Habitat for Humanity has chosen Larry Kolar as the 13th annual Volunteer of the Year.

This honor is an effort to acknowledge one of the many people who have helped build good, affordable homes that give partner families a new lease on life and hope for the future, and a hope to encourage others in the community to participate in the building of Habitat homes.

Kolar and his wife, Betsy, have been Brown County residents for 23 years in the Cordry-Sweetwater area. Following his retirement in 2006 as a federal government employee for over 30 years, he figured Habitat was a good way to contribute to the community.

Kolar has been a steady volunteer, working multiple days each week during each build while also serving as a day leader. He also gained the reputation as being the go-to expert for the building of storage sheds for most of the recent homes.
