Brown County man faces multiple charges of possessing child pornography

A 28-year-old Brown County man faces multiple felony charges for possessing child pornography after an Indiana State Police investigation that began earlier this year.

Patrick J. Becraft, of 5722 West State Road 46, was arrested May 29 on 10 counts of child pornography and 10 counts of child exploitation.

The Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Cyber Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force searched his home. Police were notified by Dropbox Inc. in January 2018 that child pornography files had been uploaded to the company’s web storage and sharing service. The tip included the person’s email address, screen name and electronic service provider user ID.

Police searched a laptop found in the home and reported finding 10 video files showing children engaging in sexual activities with grown men.

The youngest victims were approximately 2 to 4 years old. The oldest were about 13, the police report said.

On May 30, Becraft was formally charged in Brown Circuit Court with nine counts of possession of child pornography, Level 5 felonies, and one count of possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony. He was released from the Brown County Jail after posting $5,000 bond on May 30.
