Michigan man faces multiple misdemeanors after traffic stop

A Michigan man faces multiple misdemeanors in Brown County after he was stopped for driving left of center in downtown Nashville April 30.

Sgt. Scott Bowling with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department conducted the stop just after 7 p.m. near the Artist Colony Inn, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Bowling reported smelling alcohol on the driver, James Darcy, 69. He also reported that Darcy’s speech was slurred and his balance was “off.” A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.19, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

He was charged May 1 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
