Harold Keith White, age 81, formerly of Columbus, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 3, 2018 at I.U. Hospice House of Bloomington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Holdeman officiating. Following the service, Keith will be laid to rest next to Donna in Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
Keith was born July 28, 1937, in Columbus to the late Thomas Daniel White and Sarah Frances Clupper White. Keith enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1955 where he served as an airman at the Bakalar Air Base in Columbus. He married Donna Sue Hunter on June 8, 1956; she preceded him in death March 4, 2009.
Keith worked from 1955 to 1987 at Cummins Engine Company, and when he retired, he and Donna moved to Winter Haven, Florida. He returned to Indiana last year to be near his family. Keith was a lifelong member of Optimist International, Columbus Breakfast Optimist and Winter Haven Optimist clubs. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven and previously was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Grace Lutheran Church in Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Indiana State Chapter, 10401 N. Meridian St., Suite 150, Indianapolis, IN 46290, in memory of Keith.
Keith is survived by his daughter, Diana Dawn “DeeDee” (husband, David) Appel of Gosport; sons, Gary (wife, Shannon) White of Coon Rapids, MN, and Timothy Daniel (wife, Donna Marie) White of Hertford, NC; a sister, Kay Parker, and a brother, Tom White, both of Nashville; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna; and a sister, Fran Rogers.
