Umpires sought for youth baseball, softball

Goat yoga schedule changed at new farm

BELMONT — The new Goat Conspiracy Farm, 6022 E. Kent Road, will offer goat yoga Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings.

Instructors Steph Niemeyer and Tyler Ferguson will lead classes as follows:

  • Sundays, April 28 and May 5 — 11 a.m. to noon
  • Thursdays, May 9 and 16 — 7 to 8 p.m.

Each session will include traditional yoga poses combined with movement to allow interaction with (provided) goats, keeping the practice “lighthearted” for all ability levels.

Hard Truth Hills hosting running events in June

Registration is open for the inaugural Whiskey Chaser Running Festival starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8 on the grounds of the Hard Truth Hills distillery, 418 Old State Road 46.

Discounted registrations are open for the 5K, 10K, or a 20K-relay for two or four people. A new event, the “shot mile,” will begin at 11 a.m. It gives runners a shot of cinnamon vodka for each lap of the one-third-mile-loop around the Hard Truth lake. The “shot mile” can be added to any other registration or taken separately.

A packet pickup and pizza party is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Big Woods Pizza, 44 N. Van Buren St.

The day of the event, race registration begins at 6 a.m. and an after-party starts at 9:30 a.m.

Free mountain bike rides offered first Tuesdays

Trek Women’s Advocate and professional guide Kate Nolan leads women’s mountain bike rides for riders of all skill levels from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on first Tuesdays in Brown County State Park. The next ride will be May 7. Meet in the parking lot closest to the north gate.

While the rides are free, park entrance fees may apply.

Spring therapy walk planned at T.C. Steele

BELMONT — Rachel Ellenson, certified forest therapy guide, will lead a walk through the forests of T.C. Steele State Historic Site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

Child care available weekdays at YMCA

The Brown County YMCA offers child care for two hours at a time while parents are in the building.

The service is free to Y members and for $2 per child for non-members. Children ages 6 months to 8 years old are welcome. Child watch hours are from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Kyokushin karate training offered

Sensei David Michaelis is offering training in traditional kyokushin karate.

Classes are for students 16 and older twice a week, at 6 p.m. Thursdays and 4 p.m. Sundays.

Michaelis has trained and taught kyokushin karate for more than 35 years. Kyokushin, Japanese for “the society of the ultimate truth,” is a style of stand-up, full-contact karate. It is intended to foster humility, perseverance and nonviolence and to provide a foundation for improving physical and mental discipline.
