A mobile home on State Road 46 West was destroyed in a fire Oct. 14.

The cause was undetermined due to the extent of fire damage, said Nick Kelp, chief of the Brown County (Nashville) Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters from Nashville, Jackson Township and Hamblen Township volunteer fire departments were on scene putting the fire out and trying to determine a cause for around three hours, Kelp said.

The fire was reported just after 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of 46 West. Kelp said the home was fully engulfed by the time callers reported seeing it while driving on 46 West.

Kelp said the fire is estimated to have started somewhere in the middle of the trailer, but the extensive damage made it difficult to pinpoint exactly where and what caused it.

One man was living at the home. He was picked up by a friend who was going to give him a place to stay, Kelp said. Firefighters gave the man a card to get in contact with God’s Grace to get clothing and other items.

No injuries were reported.
