Town needs applicants for boards, commissions

Applications are due by Thursday, Dec. 12 for those wishing to serve on a town board or commission in 2020. Depending on the position, town residents and non-residents may serve. Appointments will be made at the Dec. 19 Nashville Town Council meeting. Slots the council or town clerk-treasurer must fill are:

  • One spot on the Brown County Alcoholic Beverage Commission, one-year term. This board reviews applications for liquor licenses. Members do not have to live in town limits.
  • One spot on the Brown County Animal Control Commission, one-year term. Members do not have to live in town limits.
  • Six spots on the Nashville Arts & Entertainment Commission, three-year terms except for one spot that lasts for two years. Members do not have to live in town limits.
  • Six spots on the Nashville Development Review Commission, one-year terms. This board reviews applications for signage, building plans, lighting, landscaping and other details in business districts. Members do not have to live in town limits.
  • Five spots on the Nashville Parking and Public Facilities Corporation, one-year terms. This board discusses public parking, lighting and restrooms and the expenditure of food and beverage tax money. Members do not have to live in town limits.
  • Five spots on the Nashville Redevelopment Commission, one-year terms. This board discusses economic development and incentives such as tax abatement and tax-increment financing, and reviews applications for riverfront district liquor licenses. Members have to live in town limits.
  • Five spots on the Nashville Tree Board, one-year terms. Members are responsible for trees in the public right-of-way and on town property. Members do not have to live in town limits.

The town council has already made its two appointments to the Nashville Metropolitan Police Commission for 2020.

Applicants can find an expression of interest form on the town’s website at townofnashville.org, either on the individual boards’ pages or on the town council page. Applications can be turned in at Town Hall at 200 Commercial St. or emailed to [email protected].
