Letter: Neighbor opposes tourist home special exception

To the editor:

I live two houses down from the proposed tourist home on Crooked Creek Road. I bought my home seven years ago in what I thought to be a well-established neighborhood. Our neighborhood is just a small row of houses in the county, but I have felt safe here. I have been blessed with privacy and peace.

I think we should all have the right to move into a neighborhood knowing the dynamics of the neighborhood will not be drastically changed.

It is awful that tragic things happen to our friends. I do understand the devastation of loss and the need for extra income. I wish only the best for my neighbor who is seeking special exceptions from the board. She is a strong and courageous woman.

But if this home is approved there will be no little row of houses in our county safe from these “extreme” exceptions.

The next meeting to address this home is March 24 and I am asking the board to deny this home to protect my rights and the rights of all county residents who could be negatively impacted, in the future, should this home be approved.
