Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales visited Brown County last Thursday to meet with County Clerk Pearletta Banks and her team. Morales delivered a check for $75,000 to be spent on election improvements, including security, safety and voter outreach projects.

Since the beginning of the year, Morales has delivered grant checks to more than 70 counties in Indiana. On Thursday he also met with county clerks from Monroe, Martin and Pike counties.

The counties are receiving grant dollars from Federal Help America Vote Act to help with the upcoming local elections. This round of statewide grants is valued at around $1 million.

Previous election improvement funding has been used for additional signage, security upgrades, voter outreach and more.

Morales said that it is more important than ever to ensure that the county clerks have the tools and resources they need to conduct secure elections.

Voter registration for the General Election on Nov. 5 ends on Oct. 7. Eligible Hoosiers are encouraged to check their voting status, register and find their voting location on the Indiana Voters website at indianavoters.in.gov.
