Susanna L. “Sue” Esselborn

Susanna L. “Sue” (Rutter) Esselborn, age 65 passed away all too soon on Friday morning, September 20, 2024 at her home in Brown County.

Sue was born in Franklin on November 7, 1958 to her parents, the late Delmar and Frances Rutter. She attended Brown County High School. Sue retired in 2020 as a Home Health Care Worker for Visiting Angels in Nashville after more than 10 years of service. Prior to that, she was the Manager of Loss Prevention at the Franklin Walmart. Sue also worked at Green Hill Drive In and the Downey Root Beer Barrel, both of Morgantown during her teen years.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Morgantown and a former member of the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County. Sue enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and working puzzles. She also enjoyed watching 48 Hours, Gunsmoke and Little House on the Prairie. Sue loved her family, especially her grandchildren and caring for her dog Riley.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Linda and Cristy Esselborn; and a brother, James Rutter.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ronald L. “Ron” Esselborn, whom she married on December 18, 1976 in Trafalgar. She is also survived by her daughter, Rhonda Esselborn of Martinsville; grandchildren, Haven (Tylor Neville) Esselborn of Franklin, Francis Makayla Miller, Melody (Adam Wildrick) Bray, Dayton, Rayleigh and Wyatt Hicks all of Martinsville; great grandchildren, Cristophor, Carson and Isabelle; siblings, William Rutter of Franklin, Allen Rutter of Brown County, Linda Broussard of Brown County, Barbara Sisson of Florida and Tina Stuart of Brown County; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Frank Crisswell will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, September 25th at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
