IVF Dinner & Presentation

In vitro fertilization (IVF) has been in the news ever since the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that parents may sue an IVF clinic where their children were kept frozen and later destroyed by a patient in the clinic. Join us this Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. for a light dinner, presentation, and discussion which examines the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and its implications. Held and sponsored by Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McLary Road, Nashville.

Brown County Democrat hosting first Nashville ghost walk

Reporter Dakota Bruton will be leading the first-ever Brown County Haunted History Tour through downtown Nashville on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., sharing spooky stories and historical tales of Brown County.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Democrat’s office, 153 E. Main St. and are $13 per ticket 0r $20 for two so you can bring a friend! Space is limited and tickets are selling fast, so get yours before it’s too late… if you dare.

Make sure to wear your comfortable shoes and bring your rain jackets, the walk will last around an hour, rain or shine.

26th annual Studio Tour

The 26th annual Brown County Studio Tour starts on Oct. 2 and runs through Oct. 31. This is a self-guided tour of working artists’ studios throughout Brown County. Enjoy Brown County’s scenic back roads as you travel to different locations where you will have the unique opportunity to meet the artists, tour their studios and purchase directly from them. All studios are open Wednesday through Saturday, with some also open on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information: bcstudiotour.com

52nd Annual FallFare

Nashville United Methodist Church hosts the 52nd FallFare on Oct. 5, at the Village Green in Nashville, Indiana.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, Nashville United Methodist Church will host its 52nd FallFare on the Village Green at the corner of Main and Jefferson Street in downtown Nashville, Indiana. The event is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will proceed rain or shine.

This year’s event features new booths and old favorites, each selling items that were baked, knitted, painted, sanded, picked, collected, and donated by church members. Scout Troop 190, Cub Scout Pack 190, Girl Scouts, and Sunshine Friends sell breakfast, lunch, popcorn, and homemade treats to raise funds to support youth activities at the church.

Hardin Family Memorial Open Mic Hymn Sing

Join us for the first annual Hardin family memorial open mic sing Green Valley Church, 385 Green Valley Church Road, Nashville on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.

We will have food beforehand from 5 p.m. until sing starts. Donations/love offering will be accepted and all proceeds will go to the Green Valley Church in the Hardin family’s honor.

Concert for Democracy

A Concert for Democracy will take place on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Seasons Event Center. Live music will be provided in four acts by local musicians Jan Bell, Frank Jones, Christy Crandall, and The Guthries. Hear original music as well as covers from rock and roll, Americana and folk genres. Each musical act will perform for about 45 minutes. $20 donation (more if you can, less if you can’t). Cash bar available. Sponsored by the Brown County Democratic Party.

Raptor Rendezvous Fundraiser

The Indiana Raptor Center announces its annual fundraiser, Raptor Rendezvous, on Sunday Nov. 3 at the Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County State Park from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Festivities include a bird presentation, sandwich buffet, and silent auction. Tickets are $35 and include entrance to the park. Tickets may be purchased by mailing a check to PO Box 1153, Nashville IN 47448, calling the Center at 812-988-8990 with a credit card, or using the Paypal donation buttons on our website, indianaraptorcenter.org. Please indicate that you are interested in tickets.

In other news, we are in great need of sheet and towel donations for use in animal care. We have had an extra large number of patients this year, and our supply of sheets and towels is very depleted. Abe Martin Bazaar

Looking for something to do? Come to the Abe Martin Bazaar at the Brown County History Center on East Gould Street (one block north of the stop light) on Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A diverse gathering on vendors will be selling a variety of items from Christmas decorations, to jewelry, to wood turned bowls, to locally made soap, and a variety on craft items just right for Christmas gifts.

Brown County Rising: A film series about community wellness

Brown County Rising film series will continue at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24 with the viewing of Wrestling Ghosts at Brown County Playhouse.

Hickory Ridge Community Center

When the center isn’t rented for an event, the playgrounds, walking track, and horseshoe pits (bring your own shoes) are available for use by the community. Stuffies Spend the Night!, Sunday, Oct. 13, Bring your favorite stuffed animal to the library for a weekend of fun! Drop your stuffy off and they’ll get to sleep over at the library! The Brown County History Center and Pioneer Village

The Pioneer Village is open for the summer/fall season. The village will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Tours can be arranged upon request. Call the B.C.
