Sprunica Elementary’s Student Council donated $500 to the Brown County Humane Society.

The Primary is over and it is the time for candidates to start looking toward the fall.

Leadership Brown County’s Class of 2024 had their graduation ceremony on May 14, marking the end of their eight-month program. There were around two dozen people in attendance.

Jodi Scheve,Owner of Twisted Wick Candle Company in Nashville, self-published her seventh children’s book, “The Littlest Dragon,” on May 13. Scheve said it is a fun story for kids and adults of all ages. “The Littlest Dragon is an exciting story about the littlest dragon finding his way through many obstacles to obtain five virtues in life,” Scheve said. “During his challenging trek up the mountain, he learns a valuable life lesson about being different. I think children will really relate to this book.” The book was illustrated by Twisted Wick Employee Karen Greathouse-Heinzelman. Physical and digital copies of, “The Littlest Dragon,” can be purchased on the Twisted Wick’s website (twistedwick.com) or in the store.

The full moon in May is commonly known as the Flower Moon. The full moon reaches its peak illumination Thursday at approximately 9:53 p.m. according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday created to honor and mourn fallen United States soldiers who died while serving their country. Originally known as Decoration Day, from the tradition of decorating graves of fallen soldiers after the Civil War, the name was changed to Memorial Day in 1971.

Hey there Brown County! It’s your local explorer Dakota, or should I say not-so-local … this week I traveled a little past the county line. I must have gotten lost on my way to the gas station.
