School board approves personnel changes

The Brown County School Board of Trustees approved the following April 21:

• A request from the high school to add a show choir physical education waiver beginning next school year. Students would still be required to take one other PE credit, choir teacher Kristi Billings said.

• The retirement notice of William Chris Todd, effective at the end of this school year.

• A request from Cindy Steele with BETA to use Brown County school buses for camp field trips June 6, 13, 20 and 27.

• A temporary extension for Bus 21 due to the closing of State Road 45 at Lick Creek Road. The driver will travel an additional eight-tenths of a mile, costing $8.07 per day, beginning sometime after May 4.

• Separating Brown County Junior High School choir and drama teacher Amy Smith at the end of the school year. This was not a termination.

• Separating Van Buren Elementary School preschool paraprofessional Cami Bass effective April 11. This was not a termination.

• Appointing Sprunica Elementary School History Day coach Billie Thomas to a split position with Brenda Krieger, $434 each, including retroactive approval for the start of this school year.

• Appointing high school social studies teacher Joshua Sparks, full time with benefits, Level B-1, $35,500, effective Aug. 8. He also will become high school varsity wrestling coach with a $4,103 stipend. Sparks is a replacement for Gerald Long and Mark Bruner.

• Appointing high school varsity girls assistant soccer coach Sophie Riebl, $1,535 stipend.

• Appointing Van Buren paraprofessional Angel Deckard, part time with no benefits, 4.5 hours per day, $8.86 per hour, effective April 25, as a replacement for Kelly Schwenk.

• Transferring Oliva Hobbs, Helmsburg Elementary School kindergarten teacher, to fourth-grade teacher next school year to replace Sarah Lynch.
