Writers sought for eBook on Goth works
The Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., is presenting writers with a chance to be inspired by six works from the Marie Goth estate.
Writers of all genres are encouraged to view the works online or in person and submit the results of their inspiration in writing to the guild. Chosen pieces will be presented in eBook form and a reception will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, with selected authors reading their work.
There is no fee to enter. Entries are due electronically or in person by 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24.

The Hoosier Artist Gallery, 45 S. Jefferson, features the work of Anne Ryan Miller and Ruth Wert during October.
Wert, a well-known multimedia artist, designs jewelry using antique pieces that are incorporated into natural stone, bead and pearl creations. She also creates hand-dyed silk that is framed in leaded stained glass, and weaves grass Nantucket-style baskets.
Miller’s love for nature provides inspiration for her works in stained glass. Metal overlay applied to the glass is her unique signature. Miller also creates transformed photography using luster paper and nature as her subject.
Seymour art center hosts Art Alliance exhibit
SEYMOUR — The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, 2001 Ewing St. (State Road 11), is hosting an exhibit by Art Alliance Brown County through Oct. 31. It features work in a variety of media inspired by the rustic atmosphere, the spirit of the original artists and the heritage of Nashville and Brown County.
Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Brown County Masters exhibit open now
The Brown County Art Gallery, 1 Artist Drive, has a new exhibit, “Brown County Masters, the Legend Continues.”
Celebrating the gallery’s 90th anniversary, the free exhibit includes early Brown County art from private collections hanging alongside work by today’s members of the association, plus C.W. Mundy‘s “Artist’s Collection,” a retrospective.
It will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays through Oct. 30.

Local artisans included in Bloomington show, sale
BLOOMINGTON — Artisan Guilds of Bloomington, composed of Local Clay Potters’ Guild, Bloomington Spinners and Weavers Guild and Indiana Glass Guild, will host their third annual holiday show and sale the first weekend in November. They include members from Brown County.
Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center, 302 S. College Ave.

Artists’ work from grant to be shown at state park
From 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, Arts in the Parks grant winners Patricia Rhoden Bartels and Anabel Hopkins will display work on the porch of Brown County State Park’s Abe Martin Lodge.
Their paintings have been created at the park and at Lake Monroe during the past few months as part of the public art grant program.
Black-and-white photo show at gallery
B3 Gallery, on the second floor of the Village Green Building, 61 W. Main St., has a new black-and-white photography show, “150 Shades of Gray” featuring work by Jessica and Sharon Bussert. It will be on display through Tuesday, Nov. 8.
The Busserts are Brown County residents who spend part of each year traveling. The exhibit includes images from the American West and Ireland. Their work is available at galleries in Indiana, California, Washington and Idaho and has been displayed in juried shows in the United States and Europe.
Exhibit of Hoosier folk art coming to library
An opening reception for the traveling exhibit “Indiana Folk Arts: 200 years of Tradition and Innovation” will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 11, in a lower-level meeting room of the Brown County Public Library. The event will include presenter Jon Kay of Traditional Arts Indiana.
The display celebrates the culture and heritage of Indiana and explores work of artists whose crafts represent the state’s historical narrative.
The exhibit will be on display during regular library hours Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13.
Second Saturday Art Walk scheduled in November
From 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday Nov. 12, the Village Art Walk will take place in downtown Nashville. The free tour features nine galleries that will stay open until 8 p.m., offering refreshments, music and a program. Each features original, handmade local and regional art and fine crafts.

Seasons holiday art and craft show planned
The Seasons Conference Center will host a holiday art and craft show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.
Free to the public, the event is a juried fine art and craft show that includes about 40 booths. Prizes will be awarded to artists for best 2D work, 3D work and a vote for a People’s Choice Award. A light breakfast or lunch can be purchased.
