Star Quilters

COLUMBUS — The Star Quilters Guild will meet Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Masonic Lodge, 4131 Rocky Ford Road. All are welcome. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. for the group’s annual Christmas lunch.

Participants should bring a block of any size, color and pattern, pieced or embroidered in Christmas wrapping for a block exchange; they will receive one in return. The program includes show-and-tell of projects.

Pioneer women

The Pioneer Women’s Club meets weekly from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Brown County History Center on East Gould Street.

The group seeks to support the historical society and the History Center.

The second Wednesday is block-of-the-month quilting. The last Wednesday includes a special program with a lesson and a pitch-in lunch.

Vietnam Veterans

Vietnam Veterans will meet for a special program at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Brown County Inn, 51 State Road 46 East.

The program will include the Bald Eagles and American Legion, marking the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It costs $26 per person.

Vietnam Veterans will not meet in January.

Woodworkers club

The Brown County Woodworkers Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Brown County Public Library for the annual show and tell meeting. The Marc Adams School of Woodworking scholarship recipient will report on his class.

Rotary club

The Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, in Nashville’s Artists Colony Inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Area residents interested in learning more about Rotary are welcome.

Widowed group

Brown County Widowed Group will meet for a Christmas lunch at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at Brewed Awakenings in Morgantown. Those planning to attend should notify Joanne Day at 812-597-5593.

The group will sponsor a euchre party at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Sycamore Valley Center on Memorial Drive at the fairgrounds.

Peaceful Valley Heritage

The Peaceful Valley Heritage Preservation Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, in a lower-level meeting room of the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St.

All are welcome. The organization serves to recognize and preserve historic, cultural and natural resources of Brown County. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month.

Photography club

The Brown County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane.

The club is open to anyone interested in photography. Meetings the second Tuesday of each month include photo shares and tech tips. The club also schedules one photography day trip each month and exhibits work in local venues several times each year.

Cemetery preservation

At 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, the Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society will meet in the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St.

WRAPS

After a period of dwindling attendance at meetings, the Writers, Readers and Poets Society will go into a period of dormancy. After Daylight Saving Time ends March 12, efforts will be made to revive interest in the group.

Ancestry group

Family Histories and Mysteries will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, in lower-level meeting room B of the Brown County Public Library.

The meeting includes hints on how to identify ancestors; and sharing of family stories and things learned about ancestors’ lives, vocations, times and places in which they lived.
