OUR FOLKS: Woottons’ 60th anniversary

Ralph and Barbara (Golson) Wootton of Nashville will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20 at New Life Community Church, 1450 State Road 135 North.

The couple requests no gifts.

The two met at a skating rink in the bride’s hometown of Mobile, Alabama, while Ralph was in the Navy. They were married Aug. 14, 1957, at the home of the bride’s aunt and uncle, Sam and Emma Dunham, in Mobile.

After Ralph’s discharge from the Navy, he brought his bride back to his native Brown County, where they raised their children.

The couple has three daughters, Susy Wootton and Cindy (Glenn) Dodge, both of Nashville, and Sharon (Todd) Vansickel of Rochester; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ralph is retired from Cummins. Barbara, a retired cosmetologist, worked with Kathy’s Hair Care. She is a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
