JACKSON TWP. — An Indianapolis couple was injured in Brown County over the weekend after their motorcycle hit gravel on State Road 45.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Stargell was westbound on 45 at around 4:45 p.m. Saturday when he came upon the crash near Morrison Road. He reported finding Thomas W. Roberts, 58, and Diana L. Roberts, 54, lying on the east side of the road.

Thomas Roberts told Stargell he was driving 35 to 40 mph when the motorcycle hit gravel at the intersection of Morrison, causing him to lose control, the report states. The motorcycle left the east side of the road and slid, ejecting the couple. They were not wearing helmets, according to the report.

Thomas Roberts had a laceration to his face and Diana Roberts had a broken left arm and wrist, the report said. They were both taken by ambulance to Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.

The motorcycle was towed.

Stargell reported that Thomas Roberts did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his license.
