Coach’s comments: The Eagles came up just short in a hard-fought battle with Cloverdale 48-51. Neither team could stop the other in a high-scoring first half of action. But both squads came out determined to turn the defense up a notch, as both failed to score double digits in the third quarter. Brown County saw the Cloverdale lead grow to 8 early in the fourth quarter but made a nice run to close to within a possession. The Eagles cut the lead to 1 with 12 seconds to go, then fouled the Clovers hoping for a missed free throw. The strategy worked, but the Clovers secured the offensive rebound, forcing Brown County to foul again. This time, they capitalized and hit both, extending the lead to 3. The Eagles had 8 seconds to go the length of the court but couldn’t get off a decent shot at the end. Brown County enjoys a brief break in game action until they host their own holiday tourney on Dec. 28.
