INDIANAPOLIS — Meagan Burns and Sarah Roberts, both of Morgantown, were awarded master’s degrees in education administration at Butler University’s 2017 winter commencement ceremony Dec. 16.

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana State Police Senior Trooper William Brown has been promoted to the rank of corporal.

Originally from Morgantown, Brown is a 1995 graduate of Brown County High School. He studied law enforcement at Vincennes University and served in the U.S. Army. He is a former military police K-9 officer. Brown has been a state trooper for 10 years, primarily patrolling Owen County where he and his family live.

As corporal, Brown will serve as district duty officer, overseeing line command and administrative duties at the Bloomington post; overseeing supervision of Bloomington district operations; and delegating assignments to troopers working in the field.

SAN DIEGO — Pvt. Elijah Joseph Patterson graduated from U.S. Marine Corps basic training with Platoon 1001 on Nov. 17. Secretary of Defense James Mattis served as parade reviewing officer at the graduation ceremony.

A 2017 graduate of Brown County High School, Patterson is the son of Patrick and Laura Patterson of Helmsburg. He is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton for School of Infantry training.
