Letter: Hollingsworth can’t fool all the voters

To the editor:

Some of you may have received an email from our Congressman Trey Hollingsworth last week bragging about receiving the “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights” award from the 60 Plus Association.

I had never heard of this organization, so I did a little digging and learned that this organization, funded largely by the Koch brothers, has been pushing for the privatization of Social Security, not its protection.

As a senior and grateful recipient of Social Security, I am painfully aware of the risk that would come with privatizing this essential senior benefit that we have worked so hard and paid so much for. Anyone who has watched the rollercoaster of Wall Street should be very skeptical of any effort to put our fixed income at such risk.

It is bad enough that Representative Hollingsworth has voted consistently against the interests of those in greatest need. It is an insult that he would attempt to fool us into believing he is a “Guardian” of our rights.

We are not fooled by Trey’s efforts to portray himself as something he has demonstrated he is not. In the future, I hope he has the decency to be honest about his intentions and political agenda. We have had enough of politicians who would play us for fools.
