TAKE NOTE: Block party replaces homecoming parade

Brown County High School students have decided to have a block party at the high school instead of a downtown parade to celebrate fall homecoming on Friday, Sept. 14.

The community is invited to attend.

The block party will take place from 4 to 6 p.m.

Face painting, outdoor Twister, pinatas, corn hole, karaoke and more activities will be happening.

Food will also be available for purchase.

The varsity football team will take to the field at 7 p.m. to battle Beech Grove.

“This came from our students,” high school principal Matt Stark said during the Brown County School Board of Trustees meeting Sept. 6.

“You serve as the board, I serve as the principal, but at the end of the day they don’t have class reunions for you and they don’t have them for me. They have them students who go through high school. This is their high school and we need to help them have a voice within that so they have ownership of it, increase that school spirit. It’s up to us to help guide them and help them make good decisions.”
