Art Colony Weekend paint-out winners

The Brown County Art Guild celebrated its fourth annual Art Colony Weekend Sept. 7 to 9. The rainy weather did not deter patrons and artists from participating in events, with more than a hundred people present.

Fourteen regional artists competed for $2,000 in cash prizes during the Villagescape Plein Air Paint Out on Sunday. The winners were:

  • Wyatt LeGrand of Bloomfield: Frederick W. Rigley Founding Member Best of Show Award, $1,000
  • Todd Derr of Owensboro, Kentucky: First place Margaret Colglazier Memorial Award, $500, and third place, $125
  • Roy Boswell of Indianapolis: Second place Alec Jackson Memorial Award, $250
  • Donna Shortt of Indianapolis: Art Alliance of Brown County Honorable Mention Award, $125.

Proceeding the paint-out, Jackson’s Auction & Real Estate Company hosted an art auction to benefit the Brown County Art Guild at the Brown County Historical Society. Featured works by current living guild member artists as well as works by master artists such as Marie Goth, V.J. Cariani, Carl Graf and Genevieve Goth Graf were available to bidders. A total of 115 paintings were auctioned.
